DoudouLinux is specially designed for children to make computer use as easy and pleasant as possible for them (and for their parents too! [1]). DoudouLinux provides tens of applications that suit children from 2 to 12 years old and gives them an environment as easy to use as a gaming console. No need to install DoudouLinux to use it, it can then be carried anywhere, for example, by Granddad and Granny. DoudouLinux is provided full and ready to be used, nothing else to be downloaded, nothing else to be updated and nothing else to be administered i.e. available as an autorun CDROM, DoudouLinux does not need installing. It does not touch the data in the computer it runs on, nor the system installed on the computer. Shipped with built-in content filtering, it prevents children from accidentally visiting unsavory web sites.
Since version 2010-11 it also natively ships real-time web content filtering to keep our children’s eyes off of “naughty” websites. So at most you will have to adjust your computer sound output and the mouse speed! Moreover, DoudouLinux runs on any PC computer and on Macintosh™ ones made after year 2006, a prior [2].
DoudouLinux is based on “Live CD” technology with which a full system can be started from a CD instead of installing and starting the system from the computer. In no way does DoudouLinux access local system data nor the Internet behind your back. You can then quietly let your children play with the computer. Moreover, DoudouLinux contains no malware such as viruses, worms, Trojan horses, spyware, adware or keyloggers. And as DoudouLinux only runs from CD, it cannot be corrupted by malware nor fail due to hardware troubles or even blunders. To make a long story short, it is risk free!
You can carry it everywhere and let children on any computer without worrying. DoudouLinux can be lent, offered, loaned, copied as often as you want. Just like they do on the school playground! This is fully legal, so DoudouLinux is really risk free from all points of view.
DoudouLinux also aims at making computers accessible to all children on earth, with no discrimination. For this reason the DoudouLinux.org web site lets you download full and free versions and will always do so. Moreover, DoudouLinux is available in many languages so that each child will feel comfortable when he begins reading.
It currently support the following 25 languages: Arabic, Chinese, Czesh, Danish, Dutch, English, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Latvian, Malay, Norwegian (Bokmål), Persian, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Portuguese (Portugal), Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Spanish, Swedish, Telugu and Ukrainian.
Additionally, as an appetizer, they are proposing Hebrew, Indonesian, Turkish and Vietnamese. More than 60 languages can be generated [3], but translation quality is, unfortunately, not homogeneous between languages [4]. If you would like to help translating your language, please get in touch.
